11 months

Riley is 11 months. Time just flies. She has learned so much this last month!

·         She still crawls everywhere. It’s still that creepy crawl, but it gets the job done

·         She recently got a walker toy to push around. It’s hilarious to watch. She hasn’t figured out steering yet. She crashes into walls, couches, any and all furniture. She really rams it hard. She hasn’t figured out a normal pace, she runs. She looks like a little old person going up and down the hall. When she reaches one end we have to pick her up while she holds onto the toy and turn her around and she runs off again and waits at the other end of the hall.

·         She’s been sleeping great. About 12 hours a night and she goes to bed about 9. She gets up about 9 or 9:30. Beautiful.

·         She loves to roll her tongue. That has never changed. It’s her way of bonding with strangers.

·         She recently learned to wave and clap her hands. She can even do it on command. But she waves randomly just so we wave back. She really likes waving while we try to feed her. Not sure why.

·         She comes to nursery with me for the first hour and thinks she’s in charge of the toys. She has no problem if a child takes away a toy, she just moves onto the next one. The kids in there love her. One girl always calls her “The Child”. So when she leaves this girl always comes up to me and asks “Where is The Child?” And she asks in a dramatic voice. I love it.

·         She celebrated her first Christmas. She got real good at unwrapping gifts. She loved it. She never touched the tree or gifts before Christmas though. She unwrapped one present, but I believe it’s because it had a pretty shiny ribbon bow on it. As long as you gave her a little tear in the paper she took over from there. She’s going to be an expert at her birthday next month. Her favorite gifts were a Noah’s Ark Little People set and a ladybug thing that sings and you put shapes in the appropriate shape.

·         She desperately wants to walk but hasn’t figured out the logistics yet. It’s a difficult thing.

·         Her new favorite activity is stacking our Wii games. She takes them all out and puts them in a tower then proceeds to take them off one by one.

·         She’s getting better at eating. She loves pasta. She did have a dairy intolerance but I believe she is slowly growing out of it. She’s not too sure about cheese. She’s ok with macaroni and cheese but just plain cheese creeps her out. She’s also a carnivore. She believes no meal is complete without some sort of meat.

·         Still not talking much yet. She makes lots of noise, but no words she associates with anything. But she likes to be loud when everyone else is loud. It doesn’t matter what’s happening, if it’s loud she will yell just to fit in.

·         We are working on her social skills. When she sees other children she prefers to either a) poke their eyes b) grab their hair or c) step on them like some sort of giant. Not exactly the best way to make friends.
