10 months

This post is a bit late. Riley is 10 months old! She’s out of the single digit months. She’s done a lot in the past couple weeks.

·         She is now an avid crawler. It’s a rather creepy crawl, but I guess it could be considered adorable. She crawls on her right knee and left foot. She uses the foot to get leverage and drags the right knee below her tush. This provides easy access to sitting.

·         She can stand without support. She doesn’t know she possesses this talent yet. But we are sometimes able to let her go and she stands there until she figures out how to sit down.

·         She loves the fireplace. It’s a hideous thing, but it makes a cool noise when you slap it with your palms and it’s just the right height for her.

·         When she’s crawling and her head comes across something hard, she hits her head against it several times. I’m guessing this is to see how sturdy the object is, but I’m not sure. She then tries to look at the offending object.

·         She really doesn’t care about the Christmas tree or the presents under it. She’s barely touched either.

·         She’s getting better at sleeping. We are so proud of this.

·         She screams like we are torturing her when we change her diaper. I have no idea why this started. She has no rash and she’s fine until we go to put the new diaper on. Then it’s madness.

·         She has a case of ball pit balls that are pretty much the greatest toy ever. She can play in the laundry basket with about 100 ball pit balls for a good 20 minutes.

·         She loves tv. Her favorite shows are the Bubble Guppies and Sponge Bob. The Bubble Guppies are pretty cool. Look up the Bubble Guppies go outside song on Youtube. It’s my favorite.

·         She still doesn’t like other people, but she’s stopped having major meltdowns when strangers would look at her or comment about how cute she is.

·         She’s super loud. She’s always yelling about something. I’m trying to teach her words, but she just smiles and spits at me.

·         She sleeps with her blanket every night and nap time. She is in love with that thing.

·         She got a small stuffed dog from Great Grandma the other day and it’s her new best friend. She smiles and scoots over to it every time she sees it. It’s just a plain white dog, but it’s hilarious to her.

·         She loves to take out all our Wii games. She knows when they are put away and makes a beeline for them. They need to be on the floor.

·         Her favorite toy at the moment is a keyboard that Grandma and Grandpa Kearns got her the last time they visited. She knows which button to push to make the music play and she continues to dance. She waves her arms up and down. It’s probably a good exercise for me to do to get rid of some of my arm fat. But I feel self-conscious waving it around like that.

·         She poops almost every day. And it’s only when I’m around to change her. She goes without pooping on the weekends and nights because Richard’s home and could change her diaper. It’s not nice.

·         She still loves puffs and her new favorite is graham crackers. She would eat them all day if I let her. She’s very good at chewing. She likes to crunch down on her food. I guess that‘s why peas aren’t as much fun.
